Contest requirements

1. Call
To mark the International Year of Statistics, the MSc in Statistical Techniques, taught by the three Galician universities, announces a contest for MTE statistical and operations research  posters by students of its MSc. All information on this call can be found on the master's website: http://eio.usc.es/pub/mte/index.php/es/noticias.

2. Recipients
Individual master students from the 2012-2013 year. There is no limit of contestants per university. Only one poster per student.

3. Statistics or operations research posters
The contestants will submit one poster on statistics or operations research.
The students who are in their first academic year or in their second but who have still not defended their dissertation or will do it in this academic year can present their poster about any subject already learnt or any paper already written. (Level A)
The students who have already defended their dissertation in January or will do it in July will have to present a poster related to their dissertation subject. (Level B)

4. Registration
In order to participate in the constest please send an e-mail to mariajose.ginzo@usc.es with the subject "Registration MTE Posters". Deadline: 1 June 2013.

5. Posters
Each contestant should send by e-mail their poster with the subject "MTE Poster"  to mariajose.ginzo@usc.es. Postes should be original. The poster size will be sent to the student after 1 June. Also a summary in the template created for the SGAPEIO conference (.tex or .doc) should be presented: http://xisgapeio.udc.es/ Deadline for the posters and summary: 1 July 2013.


6. Jury and posters assessment
Each poster will be reviewed by two referees who will write a report about it.  The organisation will pre-select the posters in each category based on these reports.
When reviewing the posters the following aspects will be taken into account:
‐ Subject originality.
‐ Innovation when presenting the poster.
‐ Conclusions and critical analysis of the poster.
‐ Academic transcripts of the contestant.
The 5-member jury will be formed by: a representative of the organising committee of the SGAPEIO conference, the masters coordinators and a member of the departaments which teach in the MSc. The jury's decision will be final and the prizes may be declared null and void. The jury's decision will be sent by e-mail and will be published in the MSc webpage by 15 July 2013.

7. Prizes
One prize per category. The prizes will be a subscription to SGAPEIO for a year, as well as registration to the XI Conference of the SGAPEIO. All participants will also receive a diploma for their participation in the contest.

8. Right of admission
The contest organisation may modify the conditions at any time when there is a justified cause.

9. Acceptance of the contest requirements
Participation in the contest means full acceptance of the contest requirements.
