ITMATI participated, on 20 and 21 July, in the Civil UAVs Initiative Workshop

On 20 and 21 July was held at the headquarters of the Galician Agency for Innovation (GAIN) in Santiago de Compostela, the Workshop CIVIL UAVs INITIATIVE. This meeting showed the commitment of the Government of Galicia for the creation of an industrial technology center with its epicenter in the Rozas aerodrome and in the future Center Airborne Research INTA-XUNTA (CIAR), as well as present and future opportunities for attending companies. ITMATI, participated,  with other research centers, technology centers and companies in this meeting.

Civil UAVs Initiative is an initiative in the framework of the policy of promoting a center of aviation technology research of the Government of Galicia, which seeks the use of UAVs in civil matters, and especially in improving public services. The drones that are manufactured in the future will have applications in several key areas such as fire prevention and management of disasters and emergencies, sea rescue, etc

Representatives of more than 200 companies from different countries attended the event, to explore possible alliances and get to know the project.

The working day was opened by the president of the Xunta, Alberto Nunez Feijoo, the Regional Minister of Industry, the director of INTA (National Institute of Aeorospace Technique) and the general secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation. At the meeting, they reaffirmed the commitment of the regional government with this project, with an investment of 55 million euros until 2020 and will be developed in two phases: in the first,  one or more technological and industrial strategic partners long-term commitment to the development of this initiative will be selected ; in the second phase, the Xunta de Galicia, will select  through public procurement processes, suppliers and developers of concrete solutions to the development of the technology park.

During the workshop ITMATI attendended the conferences within the framework of this initiative, and also held bilateral meetings with these and many other companies: Boeing, Indra, Everis, Centum, Itelsis, Cotesa, CEIT-IK 4 Marine Instruments, Inspiralia, Galician aeronautical Consortium, etc.
