The Research Group in Mathematical Engineering at the University of Santiago de Compostela, which PI is ITMATI's Promoter Alfredo Bermúdez de Castro Lopez-Varela, is a Spanish leader in Numerical Simulation. Professor Bermúdez explains that "our fundamental mission is mathematical knowledge transfer to companies in order to improve the quality of its products and services". This group provides solutions to mathematical problems in industrial sectors as such as energy, materials, environment and transportation.
